UPDATE - DbQwikSite 4 is now available, and boasts a number of improvements.
I
need to write an updated review of DbQwikSite since much has changed in
the latest release, however, I am short on time right now. I
encourage to learn more about this product, especially if you have an
interest in developing databased ecommerce web sites. Please check
this link for more information on their latest version:
DbQwikSite 3 - The Software got my interest, but the company won
me over! I now recommend DbQwikSite over ASPMaker! - and it gives
CodeCharge Studio a serious run for the money.
Let me start by saying that I first discovered DbQwikSite somewhere
between version 2.0 and 3.0 - a small difference numerically, but a big
difference in feature set and functionality. I was considering a review
but emailed the company about some minor dislikes. Now, I was not
altogether sure I would get an answer of any kind, but did not expect
the kind of positive reply I received. I was told that they were in the
process of developing a new release and that the new version would
address some of the items in my email. I was pleased to see that when
the next version was available they had addressed my questions, but I
wrote back what about this? or could they include that in the next
release? Many software companies could have easily ignored or
downplayed by suggestions, but instead I was pleasantly surprised to
see they continue to improve the product and I was able to easily
update to newer versions from within the program? Automatically!
Now let me tell you right here, that I purchased my license for
DbQwikSite before the recent improvement because I saw the value of the
product even before the updates that addressed my concerns. Yes, this
program is more expensive than ASPMaker but I believe it presents added
value in several areas and really is easy to use for even novice web
developers.
Do you want to develop simple database application, quickly and easily?
Want to incorporate hard coded or table based user security level with
multiple levels of security? Do you want to develop database
applications with image support? Do you want to develop ecommerce
enabled web applications? You can do it all with DbQwikSite!
I mentioned earlier that I would now choose DbQwikSite over ASPMaker
but not Code Charge Studio. Well, let me clarify that a little bit.
There are many times when I would in fact use DbQwikSite instead of
Code Charge Studio, however, CCS allows me to provide both active
server pages and .html templates to customers. This allows them to
easily make modifications to the .html without interfering with the CCS
generated .asp code. They can easily edit the .html pages in Microsoft
Front Page, visually as well as in code. The pages generated by
DbQwikSite do not lend themselves to easy editing by novice end users.
However, if you are developing database web sites for customers they
might not have any need or desire to edit the pages so this may not be
an issue for you.
As a developer you will have to decide what tool is right for the job
you have to do. Let me strongly recommend that you consider DbQwikSite
as a valuable addition to your tool box.
I found the program easy to use and especially like the live view of data as well as the SQL query.

I was able to easily connect to Microsoft Access .mdb files as well as
Microsoft SQL Server. The colorful styles let you easily change the
look and feel of the generated pages. The created pages were well
designed and could be modified outside of DbQwikSite easily.
I also like the easy way to setup an email field as a clickable link, see below.

The E-Commerce Edition provides a variety of professionally designed
templates that would be ideal for catalog style web pages, as well as
tools for integrating PayPal with the web site.
I found technical support to be prompt and knowledgeable. In addition,
the FAQs and Knowledgebase on the web site were also easy to use and
informative.
DBQwikSite Pro Edition is available for 159 USD, while the E-Commerce Edition is 199 USD.
Bottom line:
DbQwikSite does indeed let you develop data driven web sites quickly
with no coding required, and I think there is very little you will not
be able to do with this product!
